We started our company because we wanted to help others discover the benefits of nutritious food. For the past 4 years, we have been refining our process of buying the best ingredients. Following is our criteria:

1. Each batch that we make is single sourced. This simply means that we don’t “blend” our ingredients from multiple sources together. We can trace the source of each ingredient to one supplier, every time.

2. Starting from the ingredient supplier to the supplier of our packaging material, any partner that we work with has to meet ethical standards of providing fair living wages to its employees. These are companies who genuinely care about our planet, animals, soil and plants.

3. We define quantitative and qualitative checks for each ingredient and if any of our checks are not met, we pass on that batch from our supplier. We would rather run out of product than to sell something that we didn’t love ourselves.

Here are examples of a quantitative and qualitative test:

Qualitative: Taste. We personally try and taste each ingredient that we source to ensure that the end product tastes amazing. Because we don’t use any kind of flavors or sweeteners in any of our products, there is a natural variance due to seasonal changes.
Quantitative: The amino acid profile of whey protein. If it is sub-optimal, we know that there is something less than perfect about that batch even if we can’t pinpoint it. We simply pass on that batch.

4. We make our products in small batches that we can sell within 2 months. This means that we lose economies of scale at multiple levels but we personally don’t to eat old food and we can’t give it to our customers either.
